I grew up in Salem, Oregon, but have lived in various places across the United States including California, Arizona, Montana, Wisconsin, and Texas. My wife, Rachel, and I have two boys. We like to spend time together as a family whenever possible. I enjoy surf fishing and golfing. I love spending time on the beach and in the ocean. I played professional baseball with the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
I've been teaching for five years at Zion, but have been teaching and coaching athletics for over 15 years. I have a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science from Oregon State University with some of my undergraduate work at Fresno State. In addition to my degrees, I have a Texas real estate license. I'm also certified by the Cooper Institute, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
In addition to teaching Physical Education at Zion, I spend a lot of time coaching various high school and club baseball programs throughout the year. Whether coaching or teaching, I promote Christian core values and how to implement them into everyday life. I want to encourage my students to put effort into everything they do.
Learning starts with failure, failure is the beginning of education.
