I grew up on a dairy farm in Minnesota. After attending college in Nebraska, I have served congregations while living in Florida, Illinois, and Arizona before coming to Zion. I enjoy spending time with family, especially my nieces and nephew. I also enjoy reading, cooking and baking for others, and traveling to explore new places.
I graduated from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska with a degree in Behavioral Science and a Director of Christian Education (DCE) Family Ministry certification. I have been working with children, youth, and their families for 20 years.
I have been involved in planning and leading LCMS District youth retreats and events. I enjoy volunteering at local organizations such as Feed My Starving Children and Hunger Busters. I am part of a community Bible study and I sing in the church choir.
I think helping students realize their God given talents and giving them opportunities to put them into practice is important. I pray that the students and families I interact with will know that the God, who created the entire universe, also made them. They are known and loved by Almighty God. God loves them so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to take away the punishment for their sins (and mine) so He could spend eternity with us in heaven! I hope students remember that more than anything about me specifically.
“Christian Teachers have four loves: the love of Jesus, love of learning, love of learners, and the love of bringing the first three loves together.”
